Conservation Measures
The United States Fish and Wildlife Service has issued required measures to be in place for the Willow Springs Ranch property. Conservation measures in the project area include minimizing impact on Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse habitat and preservation. Approximately 98.78 acres is dedicated to this effort, including upland grasslands, Riparian, Creeks and ponds.
The beauty and openness of Willow Springs Ranch comes with the knowledge that this is home to numerous species of active wildlife. Monument Creek meanders through the center of the community which supplies a valuable water source. This means coyotes, fox, bear, at times mountain lions have been and will continue to utilize this pathway for years. We want to caution you as new homeowners in the community to avoid the heartache of losing a family pet to one of these animals. We advise not leaving a pet outside your home unwatched especially Dawn, Dusk and overnight.
Restrictions Included:
Dogs must be on a leash at all times when outside of a Homeowners lot.
Dog feces (dog poop) must not be left along any trail, open space or beside sidewalks throughout the Community.
Cats must be kept inside the home and not allowed to roam in the open space unless your cat can be on a leash or harness then please be aware of restriction.
Trail locations have been designated for access and enjoyment throughout the open space. Trail completion is dictated by phases of construction (signs will be installed as construction allows).
Riparian areas – No access allowed (areas that abut to Monument Creek, Teachout Creek and ponds) Fish and Wildlife has prohibited access for any reason. Revegetation will continue for a 2-5 year period of time after development is completed and be under the guidelines of United States Fish & Wildlife Service.
Water ways- Wading, floating devices or fishing is not permitted in any pond or creek in Willow Springs Ranch. This is protected Habitat.
Livestock – Willow Springs Ranch Western boundary is surrounded by Ranch Estates that pasture horses and cattle. This is private property. Livestock can be dangerous.
Tapping Into Resources
Willow Springs Ranch is tapping into resources to share with our homeowners as they embark in landscape and gardening for their new home in this unique Alpine environment.
We are sensitive to the native plants that exist for habitat in our common areas and promote this balance for wildlife to thrive at the Ranch.
Whether you love a hummingbird garden or are a yard maintenance minimalist, we hope to represent all our future homeowners dreams and needs with clear information, examples and resources to enjoy this unique environment.
Willow Springs Ranch has tapped into the wonderful resources available through Casandra Olgren, who manages the landscape and gardens throughout the Town of Monument.
